The Meadow House has an enviable location just off the main A1 from Berwick to Edinburgh. It is the first and last pub in England sitting just South of the Scottish border. The pub has a great reputation in the Berwick area for it great value food offer and hospitable service, and we are now looking for a strong leader who can engage with the team and the local community, and really maximise the opportunity that this pub offers.

The Meadow House delivers a high volume of food per week, especially through the Spring and Summer months when the local area fills up with visitors and tourists. The pub therefore needs operators who are comfortable dealing with this volume of food and managing & leading a busy kitchen team whilst ensuring high standards are met in terms of H&S and stock control.

Great customer service needs to be at the heart of everything this pub does, and the ideal candidate will be passionate about this and ensure that they and their team deliver outstanding service at every opportunity.

The Pub

The Meadow House in the Tweedmouth area of Berwick upon Tweed. Berwick is the Northernmost town in the beautiful coastal county of Northumberland and sits just 2 miles to the South of the Scottish Border.

Berwick is a working town and port, and locals in the area very much look for a community pub, with a great value offering. In the Spring and Summer months the town and surrounding areas fill up with tourists and visitors, who come to explore Northumberland and the Scottish borders. The large caravan parks also bring a large population to the area who are keen to explore and sample what the area has to offer.

The pub is split into 2 key areas with a large dining food area to the left as you approach the building and a bar area with darts board, pool table and large screen TV to the right.

The pub also boasts a very large car park to the front of the property and this is a major selling point for the large volume of passing traffic looking for somewhere to rest or for passing coach trips who like to use the Meadow House as a stopping point on their journey to and from Scotland.

There is a large living space as part of the partnership, so you will really be able to invest int the local community and understand the workings of Berwick and the surrounding area.

The Development

The pub underwent major refurbishment 18 months ago and is presented to a high standard throughout. A clean & fresh look throughout the main trading area give those visiting a comfortable space to enjoy their food and drinks, whilst a more casual and relaxed bar/sports area also give space to those just wanting a drink.

A large outside area also means this pub has all year round appeal and is welcoming for couples & families alike.
