We’re looking for a sports-loving, family-orientated manager who would love to embrace the locals of Chesham. You’ll have a passion for sport, both watching and participating, and love the fact that the Jolly Sportsman has football, pool, and darts teams. If you’re sports mad, this is the pub for you! You’ll also have a track record of using Facebook to entertain and drive local customers to your pub.

The Jolly Sportsman welcomes families of all ages into both the lounge and garden areas. So, we need an operator with bags of personality, good with kids, lively, engaging, and entertaining. Someone you remember as a real character who loves people.

This venue is a brilliant opportunity if you love being in the heart of a community. Your customers will repay you with both recognition and commercial success. Major sports events combined with a large patio area to watch them offer lucrative opportunities for you to break sales records.

Maximising the garden space with events will also drive sales and profit. Think barbecues, family fun days, Bank Holiday Weekenders. You will build trust and confidence over time, and these events will ensure guests come back week after week. You’ll enjoy a spacious manager’s flat above the pub.

The Pub

You’ll find the Jolly Sportsman on the outskirts of Chesham, a 15-minute drive from Junction 18 on the M25. Situated within the Chiltern Hills, it’s well-loved for walking and cycling. You’ll capitalise on its popularity with locals and tourists alike.

The pub boasts the best garden and patio area in town for families; its suntrap is a magnet for locals throughout the summer months. The family garden benefits from a large playframe suitable for children up to 12-years-old.

You’ll discover a large patio and garden outside. In winter, guests warm up in front of an open fire surrounded by comfy seats and tables to chat and relax. Sports bunnies enjoy the two pool tables, large projector TV and two flatscreen TVs.

The Jolly Sportsman is well maintained, and the internal standards are high. We plan to add an outdoor TV screen to maximise sports events on our patio area. The addition of an outside bar adjacent to the beer cellar serving the patio and garden area will improve customer service and deliver additional sales at peak trading during weekend and summers evenings. Relocation of the Dart Board back to the sports side of the pub will ensure games can be played safely and attract additional darts teams.
